Police welcome 20-month sentence for cannabis cultivator
3:38pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News
A 23 year old Pencader man has been sentenced to 20 months after being convicted of offences of producing and being concerned in the production of cannabis.
John Gerherd Howell was originally arrested on 07/03/2012 at his address – and place of cultivation – in Dol Gran, Pencader.
In total, a street value of approximately £60k worth of cannabis was seized. “This was a significant drugs operation with sophisticated equipment being used for the commercial cultivation of cannabis,” said Detective Constable Owen Williams. “We hope this result sends out a strong signal to others thinking of embarking on similar schemes that they will be caught.
“One of our main policing priorities in Ceredigion is to fight the harm caused by drugs, and locating and closing down an operation like this enables us to take the fight against drugs to its very root.”
