Cardigan Thomas Cook travel agent retained

Amid large-scale closure of Thomas Cook travel agencies the shop in Cardigan town centre is to be retained.

A spokeswoman for the world’s oldest travel firm confirmed that the Cardigan branch was safe but it had been decided to close the agency in Aberystwyth.

The firm is cutting 2,500 British jobs and closing 195 of its High Street agencies. It has more than 800 stores and employs 15,500 people in the UK and Ireland.

The spokeswoman said the cuts were necessary due to administrative costs.
