Car park ownership questioned

Town councillors have raised questions over whether the county council can charge motorists for using Gloster Row car park in Cardigan.#

Cllr Graham Evans told this week’s town council meeting that he had been told the car park – where people park for free at present – was owned by St Mary’s Church.

The county council have decided to charge motorists following a recent shake up of car parking fees in Ceredigion.
“The county council has no right to do this – if they don’t own it they can’t charge for it,” said Cllr Melfydd George.
