A survey looking at ways of improving Cardigan's notorious Tesco junction should be completed within the next few weeks.

Mayor Cllr Linda Grace told last week's town council meeting that the survey was looking at the possibility of creating a safe turning area for lorries at the top end of the bypass.

"If this doesn't work they will be looking at other options including a roundabout and gyratory system," she said.

But Cllr Mair Morris said: "We want the junction open.

"Proposing a turning place for lorries is just not acceptable."

Cllr John Adams-Lewis added: "We said if it was temporarily closed it would be closed for years."

And Cllr Melfydd George said: "We must still put pressure on to get a roundabout."

This fiasco is already costing us money in fuel environmental damage and wasted time not to mention the number of prospective town shop customers who can't be bothered to find a way into the town and just go straight on at the island. Don't let the decider's bow to the pressure of commercial drivers. and penny pinch again with a turning circle, if allowed, that is all we will get for the foreseeable future.
If they can afford that strange road set up at the Aberporth junction, why not Cardigan?. Stand firm we NEED an island.

Since the closure of this junction the traffic in Aberystwth Road and North Road has increased dramatically, I live for the day that someone gets off their backside to actually sort this junction out. "Do work but not do the talk". The majority of accidents that have occured there have been the older generation! One of the easiest solutions would be to impose a 50 MPH speed limit on this stretch of the bypass, and a couple of months of police with their speed cameras catching those who speed and treat it like a race track. For the County Council who paid millions for a road that can't even be used, Well done Ceredigion another poorly designed road. This scheme was initailly required to cut the traffic coming down the North side of town, and to cut the traffic movment through the town centre. The roundabout was scrapped due to the lack or the saving of money, but that is false economy we are paying dearly for it now. The new slogan for the County Council should be, "The 3 B's Bypass Bypass Bypass".

Why oh why do the inane and brain dead have to assess the situation of the Tesco junction, simple answer BUILD A ROUNDABOUT AND FAST, they seem to be able to do this at the Aberporth junction, it to is on an incline so it's not rocket science.
