A controversial scheme to build a ten-turbine windfarm at Rhos Garn Whilgarn, Talgarreg, has been thrown out at appeal.

Welsh Assembly planning inspector Stuart Wild backed Ceredigion planners' decision to refuse the scheme, saying that the proposal "would be unacceptably harmful in terms of the effect on landscape character".

And he added: "If this proposal were allowed there would be few higher vantage points in Ceredigion without a clear view of a wind farm in the landscape."

Residents launched a vociferous campaign against the scheme.

Mr Wild said that while the effects of the turbines would not be harmful to local residents, the most signiicant effect would be visual intrusion.
