Couple bowled over

Whatever the outcome of his attempt to become World Bowls Champion in Australia next month Kevin James of Cardigan will have cause for special celebration.

He and partner Louis Wormer are getting married in a beach ceremony a few days after the championships.

UK champion Kevin is representing Wales in the tournament in New South Wales, and as soon as it's over the couple, with their two and a half-year-old son Dean, will head for Sydney, to be married at Balmoral Beach on Monday, November 19.

The bowling couple - Louise is the current Welsh under-25 champion - who are postal workers in Cardigan, fly out to Australia on November 2.

They will have some local support as former Cardigan Bowling Club captain Bryan Gibby and partner Eryl along with Vince and Mowbray Preston are attending the championships.

Kevin, aged 23, won the British Isles Outdoor Singles Championship in Edinburgh during the summer "I'm looking forward to the challenge and hope I can do Wales proud," he said. "At the moment I don't know if I'm more nervous about the world championships or the wedding."
