Dear Editor,
Well done Sarah-Jane Absalom for your farewell piece (Tivy-Side, P4, March 3). I am sure many people will be sorry to hear that you are leaving 'Page 4', which has entertained us so well for so long.
As one who left the paper nearly three years ago I can assure you that there can indeed be life without newspapers, and a very good one too.
I would turn your central question on its head and ask this: How much life is there left in our local press when many of the best journalists have left the drifting ship for more interesting and better-rewarded waters?
We can only hope that the few good journalists left will ensure that the Tivy-Side continues to serve its community for many years to come.
