Dear Editor

I am 47 years old and I have Down's Syndrome. I have been a member of Cardigan Gateway Club for 28 years and have enjoyed all the activities and outings that have been organised for us.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the helpers for what they have done over the last 30 years, and as a family of friends it is now very sad that we will not be able to see each other every week.

I would like to appeal to whoever has made the Club shut down as it must be the best Gateway Club in Wales. Everyone who has attended over the years must feel the same. Many local businesses and organisations gave us great evenings out and meals and all the members felt part of the community that is Cardigan. Hopefully in the years to come the Club may return and the social activities that we had enjoyed also. I am now not able to go out in the evening as it is difficult for my family who are old now.

So the Club was also respite time for parents and carers. I will remember my good times at the Club, but feel cross that in hard times it is often the disabled who suffer for these cuts.
