Dear Editor,
40 years ago Cardigan was a delightful, thriving and friendly market town from which almost anything that one could wish for could be obtained.
The Post Office has now closed for some obscure reason and without notice, shops continue to close or become some sort of charity shop and the hospital is under threat of total closure with some 'plan' to relocate it at some stage in the future, if ever, in probably the most inaccessible part of town. What will happen to the present 'Memorial Hospital'? It cannot be demolished for the building of houses by some slick developer.
Before long the so called restoration of the 'Phantom Castle' will be complete, nicely may I say, and people will be invited to Cardigan from far afield under the lure of 'Visit Cardigan Castle now restored' will have difficulty in finding satisfactory parking and little else on offer.
What has happened to the Bells of St. Mary's. To be anywhere in the town and hear the bells pealing was a delight but sadly no more except in the event of a visiting group of campanologists. Very sad.
