Dear Editor,
Hywel Dda Health Board has a medical disorder - that of severe short-sightedness!
To close Cardigan hospital, a great asset in the area - is short-sighted in the extreme. Just where is the logic in closing it long before the new replacement has come into being? There is no such thing as a quick-fix for a long-term problem.
Cllr. Rod Bowen is right when he states that a large proportion of the population is over 80 years old. It must be remembered that many people retire to the area and they surely have a right to expect excellent nursing and convalescent care in their declining years.
I was born in 1948, the year the NHS was born and it's creator, Aneurin Bean, surely a Welshman to be proud of, would revolve rapidly in his grave if he knew of this gradual destruction of his brainchild.
CAROL SWIFT.
