Dear Editor,

How often are we going to be told that this little private airstrip and empty hi-tech parc at Blaenannerch are going to be the financial saviour of West Wales.

For over 10 years, every now and then, a councillor pops up and eulogises over what great developments are going to happen. This time it falls to Cllr Lloyd, cabinet member with responsibility for economic development, to wax lyrical over absolutely nothing.

The foundation of the National Aeronautical Centre (NAC) was actually announced on 9th July 2012 at the Farnborough Airshow, and it has made such an impression on the aviation world that if its acronym is Googled it appears on page 6, being listed 56th, coming in just after Nic Nac Noo wooden toys.

The reason the hype this year is the "partnership" with the airfield at Newquay, Cornwall.

Next year presumably it will be a "partnership" with the airfield at Llanbedr, which I hear is signed up by QinetiQ to further develop the Wales Unmanned Aircraft System Environment.

There's no need to say more.
