Dear Editor,

Several residents of Maesglas and surrounding areas have grouped together to form an action group opposing Tai Ceredigion’s proposed plans for the Maesglas play area, garages and green space. We have named ourselve the North Cardigan Action and Support Group. All residents in Maesglas and surrounding areas are very upset about the proposed plans.

The unfounded and unwarranted destruction of the children’s play area has devastated the local children as they now have no apparatus to play on. Football, cricket, dog walking and many other pastimes are still being participated in, on the green space, but the children are missing their playground. There was no notification given to locals about health and safety issues or vandalism before or after the playground was torn down. This has angered residents as only minor repairs were needed. The statement last week about vandalism was unwarranted and untruthful. As public servants they should retract their comments.

We, as a group, put to Ceredigion County Council that all planning be delayed until they have the final result on our village green status.

We are seeking legal advice on all matters.

G MORRIS
