Disgrace of chief executive salaries

It is an absolute disgrace that the Chief Executives of Welsh Local Authorities are paid such vast salaries , especially since Welsh counties have such small populations, often well below 250,000........many with a lot less than 100,000.

I would respectfully request that in the view of the many letters (Tivy-Side last week) criticising the Cardigan and District Chamber of Commerce following its observations on the language issue at Cardigan Primary School you would print my response.

Dear Editor, I have little idea as to the identities and backgrounds of the ‘more than 1,000 signatories in opposition to a Welsh -Medium education at Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi, but allow me as a teacher of 15 years’ experience of teaching at local primary and secondary schools to hazard a guess at some of the reasons for their concerns.

Baffled at objections

Less prejudice more facts

According to Mr Oakley the reason for low earnings and lack of jobs is to be blamed firmly on the Welsh language. Strange how this area has been relatively economically poor (but culturally rich) before the arrival of the English, during the time when only English was taught and since Welsh has been taught at schools.
