CARDIGAN-based artist Jennifer Hawkyard will be installing a selection of her artworks in the Cardigan Castle Tower Room from June 11 to July 10.

She is part of the Ceredigion Art Trail’s latest collaboration with Cardigan Castle as a venue for artists in the area and artists that do not have a dedicated studio space.

Jennifer’s art is inspired by the creatures and critters she sees while exploring the wilds of West Wales. Her illustrations are colourful and whimsical with a deep level of detail. Celtic spirals and other ancient art forms and patterns inform her artwork.

Having moved to Wales after an 11-year visit to Canada she is enjoying discovering Wales and exploring all the wonders it has to offer. Her artwork is inspired by the natural world and she tends to create illustrations that capture the essence of the creature she’s drawing.

She loves working in bright colours and exploring ancient and modern patterns and stylisation. The artworks displayed in Cardigan Castle will be a selection of animals from her ongoing Totem Project.
