Castell Henllys Iron Age Village will host a special evening of dark sky discovery on Friday, October 28, giving the public the chance to learn more about the solar system and learn new skills to help them make the most of the night-time into the bargain.

Starting at 7pm, the unique event will give people the opportunity to explore the mysteries of the cosmos in the same idyllic setting the Iron Age Village’s inhabitants would have done thousands of years ago.

Castell Henllys Manager, Jenn Jones said: “This event will provide a unique opportunity to visit the reconstructed hill fort after dark and enjoy the night sky as the Celtic tribe would have done here so many moons ago.

“There will be three different ways in which people will be able to learn more about the night sky and with refreshments available from our on-site café, this promises to be an exciting night out for the whole family.”

A special planetarium will be set up on site to help you get an even better view of the stars, while there will also be powerful telescopes available to spark your interest.

For those who wish to learn how best to capture the night sky on camera, professional photographer Drew Buckley will be on hand to offer his advice on how to make the most of your dark sky snaps.

The Y Sgubor café will be open throughout the evening selling fresh soup and cawl, while cakes and refreshments will also be available.

The Discover Dark Skies event will take place at Castell Henllys from 7pm-10.30pm on Friday, October 28.

Tickets for adults are £15 while tickets for children and concessions are £12. Family tickets (for two adults and two children) are £42. Tickets are non-refundable. Booking is essential.
