WHEN Swansea born Celine Forrest sang at the Cardiff Singer of the World this year her many fans thought this would be the year that she would bring home the coveted trophy for Wales.
Although her many followers were to be disappointed that she did not win, Celine appears this at this year’s summer opera at Rhosygilwen for two nights on July 10 and 11.
Celine will be joined by popular tenor Trystan Griffiths, named as the Voice of Wales by Decca Records, baritone Adam Gilbert and mezzo Sioned Gwen.
The evening’s performance will include extracts from Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutti showcasing the talents of these singers who are all currently at the National Opera Studio, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions for singers. The programme which also includes songs from Eugine Onegin, Rusalka and Rigoletto has been complied by Ingrid Surgenor who will also accompany the singers on piano.
Rhosygilwen’s summer opera is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a picnic during the generous 90 minute interval. There is also an opportunity to dine in the Orangery.
The performance starts at 6pm and tickets can be booked at rhosygilwen.co.uk or by calling 01239841387.
