A new production of Rossini’s final masterpiece, Guillaume Tell will be screed live at Theatr Mwldan.
The famous story is of a Father who is forced to shoot an apple from his son’s head during Austria’s occupation of Switzerland.
It stars Gerald Finley in the towering title role of Tell, a man whose courage is put to the test when captured by the tyrannical Governor Gesler.
The opera will be conducted by Antonio Pappano, Music Director of The Royal Opera.
Rossini’s inspiring score is packed with magnificent arias and patriotic choruses, showcasing the power of the Royal Opera Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, transporting audiences from their local cinema to the mountains of Switzerland.
The triumphant opening music is recognized across the world - used as the theme tune for the 1950’s classic cowboy movie, ‘The Lone Ranger’.
This is the last Royal Opera House production in the current ROH Live Cinema Season.
The performance will be broadcast on Sunday, July 5 at 2.45pm.
Tickets for Royal Opera House screenings are £16 (£15) and are available now from Mwldan's Box Office on 01239 621200 and online by visiting www.mwldan.co.uk
