Anthony Dowell’s classic production of the world’s most loved ballet, Swan Lake, will be screened live to Theatr Mwldan on Tuesday March 17 at 7.15pm introduced by Darcey Bussell.

An irresistible combination of Tchaikovsky’s famous score, tragic romance and breath-taking choreography for the entire company, Swan Lake stars Russian Principal Natalia Osipova as Odette/Odile with Canadian Principal Matthew Golding as Prince Siegfried,

The dual role of Odette (the white swan) and Odile (the black swan), is one of the most challenging in the ballet repertory and requires the portrayal of both the gentle and vulnerable swan princess Odette and her predatory alter ego Odile. It’s the role every ballerina dreams of dancing.

Dancing in perfect synchronisation in the lakeside scenes the corps de ballet, an array of swans in spectacular white tutus, give the production a lyric beauty and the designs of Yolanda Sonnabend combine the decadent style of the Imperial Russian Court with a fantasy of dark, gothic, glamour for the bravura spectacle of the court. A combination that makes this production the perfect cinema event for ballet lovers and newcomers alike.

Ross McGibbon, a former member of The Royal Ballet, directs the live cinema production which also includes exclusive backstage footage and interviews with the cast and crew.

Tickets for Royal Ballet screenings are £16 (£15), available from Mwldan's Box Office on 01239 621200 and online and via Smartphones by visiting www.mwldan.co.uk.
