In the middle of this longing and pain, a child disappears. Two babies, Now Vicky finds out she's not who she thought she was. Kelly loves her mother. Wanting to help her, she innocently reveals deeply buried secrets. One desperate woman Every day a woman goes to a park, still trying to understand an event 22 years earlier that tore her life apart.

Thorne talks about her inspiration for Motherlove - a mention in the news of a girl, Maria Eugenia, in Argentina taking her military junta ‘parents’ to court when she discovered that they were not her real parents.

“I wondered how easy it would be to snap bonds that had built up over years. Motherlove, has nothing whatsoever to do with Argentina, or Maria Eugenia’s story, but it does concern two girls who find they are not the natural daughters of the women they call mother. One is happy with the family she has, the other finds that the genetic confusion merely reinforces a sense of alienation that she already feels.”

Until becoming a novelist Thorne worked in a number of jobs. Originally training in law she has since run a restaurant, and now makes miniature furniture as well as writing. Her family have had connections with Pembrokeshire since the 16th century and Thorne’s first novel A Time for Silence was set in Pembrokeshire and inspired by stories of an unsolved local murder in old copies of her local paper. Motherlove is also partly set in North Pembrokeshire.
