The Strictly Social Dance Parties are relaxed, friendly occasions suitable for the experienced and the absolute beginner so everyone can join in.
They are a fabulous party tonic with all the right ingredients - live music, entertainment, dance involvement and refreshment (please bring food to share). Water and squash are free – alcohol sold at the bar.
After an amazingly successful dance party starring Brighton-based band Bacalao in October 2014, Strictly Social Dance Party have invited the lead singer Juan Pablo Lopez to play accompanied by his own talented musicians. London-based Latin band, Combo Yanzé, began when Christian Pacheco (Sax) from Venezuela and JP Lopez (Vocal) from Colombia came together in 2013. Since then they have been joined by Darius Johnson (Bass) USA, Gustavo Alcantara (Keyboard) Peru and Julian Arenas (Percussion) Colombia.
On either side of the band set Salsa teacher Nick Paine will lead introductory classes in Rueda the circular Salsa dance that’s really easy to join and exhilarating. .
He’s also on the decks, spinning his vast selection of tracks including Cuban Salsa, Bachata, Reggaeton, and much more
