Text herRhosygilwen kicks off its year 2015 programme with a gala St David’s Day performance with Rhys Meirion, one of Wales’ most loved tenors. He will be accompanied by Annette Bryn Parri on piano. The Cardigan Rugby Choir will add to the fun and enjoyment of this day of celebration.

On the 7th March, Britain’s ‘father of folk music’, Martin Carthy does a solo performance with support from the great Geordie singer Bob Davenport. There is more folk music on show on the 3rd April with the virtuoso melodion player Andy Cutting and Pembrokeshire’s Fiddlebox.

Jazz gets a big boost with Ronnie Scott’s amazing star saxophonist Dave O’Higgins and the smooth singing of Anita Wardell. The quintet will perform on Easter Saturday 4th April and a NY styled menu will be available.

Also appearing in spring are two performances by musicians and singers from the Guildhall School of Music. On the 8th March Emma Abbate and Julian Perkins perform a programme of piano duets which include the works of Debussy, Rachmaninov, Schubert and Mozart. Whilst on the 17th April Emma is joined by baritone Ashley Riches in a celebration of 20th Century English songs inspired by William Shakespeare. There is further cheer for chamber music lovers on the 17th May with the world famous St Petersburg quartet.

Jaleo Flamenco make a return performance over the May Bank Holiday on the 23rd May with their fiery dance and guitar music from Andalucia.

Later in the year preparations are already underway for an operatic weekend on the 10/11July put on in participation with the National Opera Studio featuring Tristan Griffiths, Adam Gilbert, Sioned Gwen and Celine Forest, who is representing Wales at the Cardiff Singer of World competition in July.

Rhosygilwen will also be hosting a resident playwright Richard Lewis Davies for 2015. So look out for a series of events centred around the theatre. The Light House theatre will make a return with their highly successful production of Brief Encounters.
