Aberystwyth Arts Centre bookshop will host a special Evening of Poetry, as it welcomes Gillian Clarke to celebrate the publication of her latest collection, The Christmas Wren, on December 10, from 6.30pm.

The Christmas Wren was written in response to Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, to mark the centenary of Dylan Thomas’s birth and is published by Candlestick Press as part of their ‘Instead of a Card’ series.

Commissioned by the Dylan Thomas Centre, the story is for adults and children, and is a magical tale of the Christmases of a Welsh childhood populated by aunts and uncles, snow and starlight, boxes and baubles.

“The Christmas Wren is a masterpiece and is destined to become a classic,” Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laureate.

Gillian Clarke is a poet, playwright, editor, broadcaster, lecturer and translator who now lives on a smallholding in Ceredigion. In 2008 Gillian Clarke was appointed National Poet of Wales and in 2010 she was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry.

Free entry and refreshments. All welcome.
