Following their success with 2013’s tour of “Journey To The Centre Of The Earth”, Hummadruz Youth Theatre and Circus are bringing a bit of heaven on earth to the stage this autumn when they take their dazzling show based on Holst’s “The Planets” on a tour of major theatres across Wales. They are performing at Theatr Mwldan on Saturday 25 October at 7.00pm.

Performed by a talented group of young people, the Hummadruz company is made up of 17-25 year olds from all over Cardiff who have devised the show and made all the props and costumes too and will feature the recording of Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra.

The astrological spectacular will feature dance, circus, puppets and illusion, with the whole show glowing in the dark thanks to being performed under ultra violet light. Gustav Holst’s astrological take on The Planets has inspired seven stories that will transport the audience to an Underwater Kingdom, the Elastic Planet, through Time and beyond our Solar System.

City of Cardiff Council Member for Education and Skills, Cllr Julia Magill welcomed the upcoming tour: “It’s inspiring to see the young people of Cardiff really getting involved in such a hands on way as they have done with this production. I wish them the best of luck and I am sure they will enjoy the experience as they embark on this tour.”

Led by Llanover Hall Theatre Director Stuart Bawler, Hummadruz is a youth theatre company based at Llanover Hall Arts Centre in Canton, Cardiff and is part of Cardiff Youth Service, although Stuart lives in Abergavenny. They have been funded by the Arts Council of Wales and British Council to devise and produce the eye-catching show.

Speaking about the upcoming tour, Llanover Hall Theatre Director Stuart Bawler said: “This tour is a major achievement for the young people involved and is a unique and important show for Wales - there is nothing else quite like it.

“We are a mixed ability, open access group and we have all enjoyed being a part of this and are really looking forward to performing it live on stage across Wales.”

The group are no strangers to the stage, having already appeared in televised heats of Britain’s Got Talent. Their performance was a last-minute addition to the programme as the group missed the open audition in Cardiff because they were already committed to performing in Llanover Hall’s Youth Fashion Extravaganza that same day.

However, the Producers of Britain’s Got Talent saw the group’s YouTube video, fell in love with it and worked very hard to fit them into an edition of the programme.

Tickets to see Simon Evans on Thursday 23 October are £14 and are available to book from Theatr Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk, or via smart phone
