Theatr Mwldan has an exciting event taking place on September 24 at 7.30pm.

All the way from Kendal in Cumbria comes the Craghoppers Best of Kendal Film Tour (15). The tour has already screened in London, Nottingham and Oxford, as well as further afield in Australia, Germany and Taiwan.

The film tour consists of a collection of the best mountain and adventure films that were shown at the Kendal Mountain Festival held in November last year. The film content includes climbing, mountaineering, cycling and exploration.

“I'm thrilled to have one of my films on the Best of Kendal tour. Kendal is a real celebration of mountain culture and film, so I think it is wonderful that its ethos can spread beyond the festival itself." said film-maker, Paul Diffley, producer of ‘Distiilled’, one of the tour films.

The films in the tour come from the major international competition held at Kendal Mountain Festival each year. Film-makers come from far and wide giving the festival a significant international profile. Individual trophies and cash prizes are awarded in 11 categories including Best Mountain Culture and Best Adrenaline film.

Clive Allen, one of the festival directors, said: “For the outdoor film-making fraternity, our film competition is the equivalent of the Oscars, with down-to-earth Kendal hospitality rather than Hollywood glitz and glamour! Kendal is now the world’s premier mountain film festival and attracts an audience in excess of 11,000 during the four days of the event. We estimate that the film tour takes mountain film to a similar sized audience throughout the year and has helped establish this modest market town on the edge of the Lake District as the undisputed hub of UK adventure film.”

Tickets for Best Of Kendal (15) on Wednesday 24 September at 7.30 pm are £12 (£10) and are available to book from Theatr Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk, or via smart phone by visiting mwldan.ticketsolve.com/mobile.
