A remarkable play is set to take flight in Fishguard this summer.

Set around Corbett Wilson's historic flight from Fishguard to Ireland and how it inspired young people of the day, The Flight And The Echo is devised by local writers, directed by the Director of Swansea’s Fluellen Theatre Company, and performed by young people from Theatr Gwaun’s Youth Theatre summer school.

The play will show what a lively place Fishguard was in 1912, with original research from copies of The County Echo of the time, with Transatlantic Steamers plying back and forth, and no less than three Shakespeare plays about to be performed at the Temperance Hall – now Theatr Gwaun.

The show is dedicated to John Philips one of the initial trustees of Theatr Gwaun’s Youth Theatre, who died last year, and includes a poem he wrote for the pilot of The Flight And The Echo.

The Flight And The Echo will be performed on Saturday August 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 (£4 children), available from the Theatr Gwaun box office. To reserve them, or to find out more, visit www.theatrgwaun.com or call 01348 873421.
