Belly dancers from all over West Wales will converge on Cardigan in August for the fourth annual Belly Dance Festival.

Held at Small World Theatre in Cardigan on August 9 to 10, the festival will provide a range of belly dance of workshops and displays, with a show featuring professional performers on Saturday evening.

“This is the highlight of the belly dancers’ year,” said organiser Rose Barter, a dance teacher from Rhydlewis. “Belly dancing is becoming more and more popular. The classes in Ceredigion have doubled in size this year, with women of all ages attending. It’s excellent for your health and a fun way of getting fit and becoming more mobile.

“The show on Saturday night is open to all and is a great way of finding out more about belly dancing and seeing it in action.”

The festival provides a “pick and mix” of workshops and opportunities to dance in front of an audience. It is aimed at absolute beginners and experienced dancers alike. Each session is priced separately so you can do as much or as little as you like. There will also be three workshops on stage make up by professional makeup artist Dominique Flook which will be suitable for both actors and dancers.
