Newcastle Emlyn’s well-known artist Debbie Dunbar, has her first solo show showing at King Street Gallery Carmarthen starting on Friday August 1st. Titled ‘Seeing the Light’ is an interesting exhibition of paintings by a local artist who is also renowned internationally for her equestrian pieces.
‘Chiaroscuro’ is an Italian word used to describe the contrast of light and dark in painting. This collection of paintings conveys the importance of light to Dunbar as an artist, not only how the light affects the impact of the physical appearance of the subject matter but also the feeling and narrative. Debbie captures both the dramatic and subtle effects of light in her paintings.
As part of Carmarthen’s Culture Crawl weekend Debbie will be at the gallery on Sunday 3rd August 10.00am - 4pm for those who are interested in meeting her please do come along.
