The schedule for this year’s PENfro Book Festival is filling up fast. Saturday night headliners – former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and chaired bard Ceri Wyn Jones – have now been joined by many new and established writers on the three day programme. Tickets are on sale now through the PENfro website.

Held at Rhosygilwen in north Pembrokeshire, the festival runs from Friday evening, September 12, to Sunday, September 14, and will include the popular Book Fair, a varied range of workshops for writers; and guest readings, talks and discussions with leading authors.

Rowan Williams and Ceri Wyn Jones will be sharing the stage to read and talk about their poetry on the Saturday evening, September 13.

On the Friday evening film maker Owain Llyr will be showing his award-winning film La Casa di Dio, which tells the story of the church built by Italian POWs in Henllan, during World War II. The screening celebrates 70 years since the church was opened in September 1944.

A programme of workshops for writers, led by some award-winning authors has been set up for daytime on the Saturday, covering poetry, fiction writing, memoir and writing for radio.

The free-entry Book Fair will be held all day Sunday in the Oak Hall, and there is a packed programme of talks and discussions with a varied range of writers throughout the day, plus events for children. The £10 day pass for Sunday talks is now available.

Sunday events include:

• Mererid Hopwood on one of the most interesting aspects of the Welsh poetic tradition - the custom of giving poets a celebratory chair for writing a long poem written in 'Cynghanedd', a uniquely beautiful system of sound patterns.

• David Wilson on publishing landscape photography

• Cynan Jones and Tyler Keevil on modern men's writing.

• Anne and David Sears on 'The life and work of John and Sally Seymour'.

• Tiffany Murray talking about her new ghost novel 'Sugar Hall'

• Carly Holmes on her first novel, 'The Scrapbook'.

• Poets Jonathan Edwards and Jemma King reading from their latest collections.

• Stephen Wade talking about his new book 'The Girl Who Lived On Air' - the Carmarthenshire farmer's daughter who caused a furore during 1869 for her seemingly divine ability to survive on nothing but air.

• A children's event with Dan Anthony and Huw Aaron, 'Make a Story, which gets kids to think of characters and draw them and then create stories based on them.

• A Welsh Children's event with Anwen Francis and her 'Siani'r Shetland' Welsh stories. She will be bringing the real Siani Shetland Pony with her too!

• And storytelling for kids with Beth Guiver.

Chair of PENfro Book Festival, Derek Webb said: “We try to achieve a good balance of local and nationally known names, covering a broad spectrum of literary interests in our programme. The increase in popularity of the festival year on year shows we have got it about right, and in this our fourth year we seem set to continue that trend, ensuring that the festival becomes a firm fixture in the West Wales calendar.”
