The carvings of six Mabinogi stories set in the Cych valley, not very far from Rhosygilwen, are the focus of an evening of music, storytelling and history at Neuadd-y-dderwen, the Oak Hall.
The oak carvings depicting these stories might be familiar to those that have attended events at Rhosygilwen. On the 30th May at 7.30 pm there will be a description of the mythical context by Resident Bard Diarmuid Johnson. After which Daniel Morden, the highly regarded storyteller, will retell these ancient stories accompanied by Devil’s Violin musicians Oliver Wilson-Dickson (violin) and Dylan Fowler (guitar) in a show called The Tree of Life and Flame.
The carvings were originally crafted by in oak by Pembrokeshire based artist, Phil Forder who also designed the Celtic knot patio around the fountain.
Daniel Morden is one of the UK’s most popular storytellers. His book Tree of Leaf and Flame won the Wales Books Council Tir Na Nog Prize in 2013.
