The annual Rhôd 2014 exhibition will be opening in Drefelin for a week from 25 May. In advance of this year’s events, join the 2014 artists to share a cup of tea and cake and hear about this years show at Small World Theatre, Cardigan on Friday 23 May, 6.30pm.

Rhôd is an artist-run project exploring and promoting dialogue between urban and rural arts practices. Taking its name from the sixteenth century water-mill in which it is based (Rhôd is Welsh for water-wheel) the project includes an annual exhibition held in the building and grounds of Melin Glonc, in Drefelin, Carmarthenshire. The emphasis of Rhôd is on the creation of new site-specific artworks in a variety of media, including sculpture, installation, performance, sonic art, relational/participatory art, and video.

Each member of the Rhôd Committee will be exploring the theme in this year’s exhibition in collaboration with an invited artist:

Geraint Evans/Elizabeth Waterhouse

Gemma Green-Hope and George Manson/penny d jones and Sam Vicary

Toby Downing/Sean Vicary

Mark Halliday/David Shepherd

Jade Mellor/Jacob Whittaker

Sean Olsen/Roger Lougher

Beatrice Williams/Kathryn Campbell Dodd

Sera Wyn Walker/Bob Gelsthorpe

The exhibition will open on Sunday 25 May at 2pm until late and all are welcome. Bring a picnic and enjoy the day. The site is open from 11 – 5 throughout the following week or by appointment at other times (Saturday 31st close at 4pm).

Rhôd is grateful to The Arts Council of Wales for its continued support of the 6th annual exhibition.
