May brings some exciting events to Cilgerran Castle.

On Sunday 11th May, we will once again be remembering that forgotten hero, William Marshal, who brought calm to the country after the death of King John when he was appointed regent. Marshal, who was the first Earl of Pembroke, has recently featured in his own television documentary on BBC2 as well as playing an important part in the series ‘The Plantagenets’. To remember this man whose sons were responsible for building Cilgerran Castle, Landsker Medieval group will be here with displays and demonstrations about life in 12th century Wales, together with a handling and static display of birds of prey from Pembrokeshire Falconry.

The following day sees a more recent local hero, Glen Johnson, return for another of his History Tours of the castle. Proving very popular last month, come along to learn how Cilgerran and Cardigan’s history are linked through the colourful characters who were dominant in the area.

Moving to half term, the Teddy Bears are back for their annual picnic and family trail from 25th May and back by popular demand are the fabulous and amazing Pembrokeshire Falconry with a full day of flying and handling.

All these events are by the normal admission. More details can be found by visiting the Cadw website www.cadw.wales.gov.uk or following Cilgerran Castle on Twitter.
