The fabulous Baghdaddies are coming to Small World Theatre in Cardigan on Saturday evening, May 10th. Ziad Jabero, lead singer & guitarist, is originally from Blaenffos near Crymych. His dad is from Iraq, hence the band’s name.

Ziad started playing the guitar early in life and always had a great singing voice. He grew up immersed in music. His parents hosted the fabled 'Preseli 86' festival, which featured bands such as Moving Hearts and After Hours. As a teenager he developed his musical talents in various local bands. His enthusiasm for music was infectious; he was heralded as a local Bob Marley.

Now his band The Baghdaddies have been astounding audiences throughout Europe for many years with their melange of traditional European and world musical styles of all eras, throwing them together to form an infectious unique brand of music that never fails to have audiences excited.

So hop onto a magic carpet for an amazing musical trip traversing many corners of the earth. The Baghdaddies play an eclectic mish-mash of musical merriment. The band formed in 1996 and since then has released four albums. They have toured and gigged extensively throughout the UK and Europe – On stages far and wide, big and small, on the streets, in village halls, the music appeals to all.

Their sound is influenced by music from throughout the world – from the Roma wedding, brass band and gypsy music of Eastern Europe, through to reggae, ska, calypso, Caribbean salsa, jazz and rock. The Baghdaddies always maintain a truly happy and seriously danceable side to their music.

Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, the band is fortunate to have played at many major events and festivals, and have appeared on radio and TV throughout Europe. , The Baghdaddies guarantee an uplifting evening of musical frolic and cavortment…. don’t forget your dancing shoes !!!!!

A welcome extends to another night of dancing and entertainment organised by the Strictly Social Dance Party. Included in the program is a taster tuition session in Rock’n’roll moves, fun group dance sets to join & DJ’s playing out many & varied dance music.

These events are relaxed, friendly occasions where the audience is asked to bring food to share and party goers welcome to dance into the night. The Bar will be well stocked for your refreshment!
