Double bill at Cellar Bards

Samantha Wynne-Prydderch

Martin Locock

First published in What's on

Two special guests feature at the next Cellar Bards live literature event in Cardigan. Sharing the double bill are award winning poet Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch and Lampeter based poet Martin Locock.

Samantha will be reading from her latest collection, Lime & Winter, which is the result of a Leverhulme residency at the National Wool Museum and takes a look at textiles and those who have worked with them over the last 200 years.

She has published three collections, two of which were shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year. In June she will be poet in residence at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse in Laugharne.

Martin Locock’s latest collection is The Thought of Fresh Rain, which is published by Carreg Ffylfan Press. Written over the course of a year, the poetry reports on the minutiae of everyday life and places, weather, landscapes and people are captured as snapshots in simple language that draws its power from the truths it conveys.

The Cellar Bards meet at 8pm on Friday, May 2, at the Castle Café Cellar Bar, Cardigan. There will be plenty of time for people to read poetry and prose in the open mic sessions. Entry is £3.

The Cellar Bards is hosted by writer Carly Holmes, who has just launched her first novel, The Scrap Book.

As always, the open mic sessions are open to writers of poetry, short stories, micro-fiction and novels. Just put your name down at the door if you want to read. If you don’t want to read, just go along and listen to a great variety of spoken word literature – from funny to sad to angry and fiercely political – by many talented local writers.
