The award for Best Short Record, awarded to the Dolgellau-based group S?nami at Saturday night’s Y Selar music awards, was this year sponsored by Coleg Ceredigion.
The event, in its second year, celebrates and recognises the best in Welsh music over the year. This year the event was held at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre amid a glittering array of stars from the Welsh music scene, music fans and the media.
Rhys Huws, Marketing and Publicity Officer at Coleg Ceredigion, said: “It was fantastic for Aberystwyth to host this year’s event. Gwobrau’r Selar has become one of the highlights of the Welsh music scene, and we were particularly pleased to take part and sponsor one of the awards.”
Owain Schiavone, Senior editor at Y Selar, commented "We are very grateful to Coleg Ceredigion and all the other sponsors for their support in this year’s awards – without them this event would not have been possible."
“Coleg Ceredigion has recently arranged a series of bilingual student workshops with some of the figureheads of the Welsh music and literature scene such as renowned beatboxer, Ed Holden, and Welsh Children's Poet Laureate, Aneirin Karadog,” explains Rhys. “Sponsoring this award is part of our continual commitment to promote the use of the Welsh language and to demonstrate the importance of the language on a cultural and professional level.”
