The life of one of Ceredigion's most respected piano teathers, the late Mrs Owenna Owen, is being remembered in a tribute concert to be held at Glynarthen Chapel on March 8.

Mrs Owen, nee Beynon, began teaching at the age of 15 from her home in Cross Inn, Talgarreg and then from Gelli Deg Farm, Glynarthen, following her marriage to John Owen. The concert is being organised by Owenna's daughter, Gwawr Owen who is herself a highly respected musician and the first Welsh girl to win a place at the Yehudi Menhuin School in 1978 where she studied piano and harp.

"My mother must have taught thousands of people during the course of her life and I ask as many people as possible to get in touch to find out what they remember from their piano lessons," she said.

Past pupils who will be taking part include mezzo soprano Catrin Aur who is currently touring with the Scottish National Opera Company, Aled Hall and Ryland Teifi.
