Strings – the heart of the orchestra – have an extraordinary ability to excite and move, all of their own and all on their own! The repertoire is vast – from Bach to Offenbach, March to Serenade, Mozart to Debussy, Ballet to Tango. For fun or fantasy, spiritual or sensuous, reflective or boisterous music, join us with young-at-heart conductor Malcolm Pike on Sunday 23rd February at 3.00 in the lovely ambience of Cardigan Guildhall. Tickets on the door £5 (accompanied under-16 free) – interval tea and homemade cakes on the house.

Strings Aloud started a year ago to introduce string players of all ages to the joy of playing in ensembles. This involves very different techniques to those of the normal music lesson. A year of fun and amazing strides forward later, we are now very proud to give our first public concert. Join us for mellow Mozart, happy Handel, vital Vivaldi, beautiful Bach, expressive Elgar, delightful Debussy, humorous Herold, bold Brahms, and more.

Anyone who plays a stringed instrument – teenager or recycled teenager – or would like an incentive to play again, please contact Helen Jefferson on 01239 710738. In the meantime, enjoy our concert while contributing to the castle fund.
