Fishguard has been described as a bit of a Wild West frontier town, so local community venue Theatr Gwaun has decided to take this to the next level by hosting the UK’s first Spaghetti Western Festival.
From February 7 to 9, Theatr Gwaun will show wall-to-wall classic films such as A Fistful of Dollars, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, the marvellously named Duck you Sucker, and the original Django. Alongside, there will be a Morricone music night; a movie poster exhibition; “Bourbon and Boots” party; western-themed pub quiz; discussion groups; and even a “make your own costume” event.
Organisers from Fishguard are hopeful this will grow to rival Porthcawl’s famous Elvis festival.
There’s plenty of bargain holiday accommodation available in Pembrokeshire in February, so visitors could combine the festival with coastal path walks and deserted beaches – an entirely different kind of Wild West.
Full festival programme and booking details can be found at www.spagwestfest.co.uk.
