Knitting, camping and Leonard Cohen

AS well as a show-stopping line up of movies, Fishguard’s Theatr Gwaun can always be relied upon to come up with interesting and unusual live events to tempt you away from the fire on a chilly evening.
And this November is no exception.
To start the month with a flurry, on Saturday, November 9, Best Foot Forward Theatre present Camp Confidence.
Lacking in self esteem? Then enrol in Camp Confidence. That's what Maria (terrified of birds), Blanche (agoraphobic), Donna (single mum on probation) and Cherry (obsessive cleaner) have done. Led by the harassed Julia and her assistant Fiona, the four learn a great deal about each other and themselves, and emerge happier and more secure in this gentle, warm-hearted comedy.
Then, an extraordinary film premiere is taking place at Theatr Gwaun. Renowned composer Jobina Tinnemans worked at the Mata Festival in New York to create a piece which was commissioned by Philip Glass, and involved 25 knitters alongside world class musicians to transport her audience to her home in Strumble Head.
The film of her odyssey is called Killing Time in New York, and will receive its premiere at Theatr Gwaun on November 22 at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £5.
To round off the month, Theatr Gwaun is pleased to host Keith James, performing The Songs of Leonard Cohen, as he presents the enigmatic and revered musician’s repertoire in an intimate and unforgettable way.
Keith James is performing at Theatr Gwaun on Saturday November 30 at 8pm.
