New Quay winter music night
12:53pm Monday 28th October 2013 in What's on
A NEW concert series in New Quay aims to bring some winter warmth through live music, twmpathau and storytelling.
Cegin Cei a’r Cylch is excited to present folk duo ‘SILD’, two exceptional musicians who draw upon the traditional music and song of Estonia and Wales to create a spellbinding new musical language.
‘Sild’, which means ‘bridge’ in Estonian, have recorded two albums for Fflach Tradd, the Cardigan-based internationally respected traditional music label.
Both albums have won wide critical acclaim and have been described as “mesmerising” and “exquisitely beautiful”.
Sille Ilves plays fiddle, hiiu-kannel (Estonian ancient bowed-lyre), hurdy-gurdy and sings in Estonian and Welsh. She is artfully accompanied by Martin Leamon on guitar and bouzouki.
The concert, presented by Cegin Cei a’r Cylch, and supported by the Night Out Noson Allan scheme, takes place in New Quay Church Hall on Saturday, November 9 at 7pm, with refreshments available.
Tickets are £5 for adults, children £3, available in advance from New Quay’s Toast & Post, or on the door.
