Multi-media performance from the heart of Ceredigion

AN unique performance is taking place at Ceredigion Museum on November 1.
The museum has been working with Theatr Felin-fach and top digital arts organisation, Movix, fresh from Blinc, their highly acclaimed digital arts festival in Conwy, to create a performance combining images, stories and sounds from throughout the county.
Funded by Cynnal y Cardi and Arts Council Wales, Here Is A Place has involved working with community groups from Llan-non, Llangeitho, New Quay and Llangwyryfon to create digital ‘expressions’ guided by the interests of the group.
Carrie Canham, Curator of Ceredigion Museum, said: “It’s been fascinating to see what has come out of the project, we’ve had performance, photography, dance, and documentary making, each one completely different from the others.”
Theatr Felin-fach has since worked with a group of young people to develop a performance in the museum that integrates excerpts of the digital work. The audience will be taken on a journey around the museum and will encounter members of the theatre group in a variety of short performances.
Ffion Hughes, Senior Creative Officer at Theatr Felin-fach, said: “It’s impossible not to feel something when you walk into any museum but this place is special. The ‘sense of wanting to feel’ is so powerful, memories come rushing. As we take the audience on a journey around this remarkable building, the performances will trigger mixed emotions whilst reminiscing about Grandma’s dresser, the dentist waiting room and the sound of time passing tick tock... tick tock.”
Carrie Canham added: “It’s wonderful to see our beautiful museum used in such a creative and inclusive way. It was built as a theatre over a hundred years ago and really comes alive during performances. This will be a very special, one off, performance and I’d encourage people to book tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”
There will be two performances on Friday, November1, at 7.30pm and 8.45pm.
Here Is A Place is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations Ceredigion Museum has been running throughout the year.
