ELIZA Carthy is the daughter of Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson, two of the most well known names in British folk music. Now after a decade of singing in various combinations she has established for herself a formidable reputation and a fine singer and musician in the best British folk tradition.
Eliza’s powerful, vital and exuberant rhythms, absorbed from her travels around the globe, characterise her highly original, self-penned music.
She appears at Rhosygilwen with Tim Eriksen, acclaimed for transforming American tradition with his startling interpretations of old ballads and dance tunes from New England and Southern Appalachia. He combines hair raising vocals with inventive accompaniment on banjo, fiddle and guitar.
This tour marks a rare and wonderful opportunity to see these two outward-looking players sharing in each others traditions in joyful harmony. It is their only Welsh appearance.
The concert is on Tuesday 29th October at 8pm and Tickets are £12 bookable on line at Rhosygilwen.co.uk.
