Live at Theatr Gwaun in October
12:02pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in What's on
AS the nights draw in, Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard is focusing on live entertainment this autumn, with some big name performances and familiar faces.
On Saturday October 5 at 8pm, the ever popular Haverfordwest Operatic Society presents Arthur Sullivan’s comic opera, The Zoo. The Zoo features some of Sullivan’s most attractive music, a farcical love story, the obligatory happy ending, and will be performed with customary skill by these experienced local heroes.
Theatr Gwaun welcomes back the Clarbeston Road Players on Friday October 11. Always warmly received, the Players are showcasing two very funny plays by Derek Webb, CCTV and Losing It. A night of giggles awaits.
By utter contrast, Theatre versus Oppression make their Fishguard debut on October 19. This innovative international company uses forum theatre and other participatory techniques to inspire and challenge audiences, and its current performance is an exploration of human trafficking.
On October 26, Shakespeare’s rollicking comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor comes to Theatr Gwaun in the innovative hands of Fluellan Theatre. One of the great Shakespearian characters, John Falstaff, will be given suitably larger-than-life treatment.
To round off the month, on October 27, Theatr Gwaun is delighted to welcome Declan Sinnott.
With a career spanning more than 40 years, Declan Sinnott has played guitar and produced music for Irish folk luminaries such as Christy Moore, Mary Black, Sinead Lohan and John Spillane to name but a few. He was a founding member of Horslips and Moving Hearts - two of the most influential trad /electric bands in Ireland.
