A FORMER geography teacher who turned his back on the chalk-face to become a comedian will top the bill at Colwyn Bay’s very own stand-up spectacular.

After a whopping five nights of comedy in June, it’s business as usual for Stand-Up at the Seaside with another top-notch line-up of comedians at The Station next weekend.

Headline act Rob Rouse pulled off the delicate trick of swapping the life of a teacher for making a living – managing to continue providing for his two children a dog and servicing his eye-watering mortgage – as a master-story teller with a rare talent for brilliant characterisation.

He has a host of TV appearances to his name, including playing Bottom in Ben Elton’s hilarious Shakespeare spoof, Upstart Crow, and is currently supporting Marcus Brigstocke on tour.

Support comes from Manchester-born writer and performing legend Tony Burgess, who co-wrote the Sony Award-winning Radio 4 comedy, The Nightclass, with Johnny Vegas and Tony Pitts.

He also penned the first two series of BBC3 comedy Ideal as well as writing his own seven-part sitcom, The Visit, for both BBC One and BBC Three.

Completing the line-up is North Wales comic Jonny Williams, who in addition to a 15-year stand-up career has written for BBC Radio One and BBC Radio Wales.

Resident compere Dave Rothnie will host the evening, which will also feature an audience joke competition with a chance to win prizes.
Stand-Up at the Seaside returns on Saturday, July 28 at 8pm.

Tickets are £12.50. To book and for further information, contact dcrothnie@gmail.comor or enquire at The Station pub on Station Road, Colwyn Bay.
