Play equipment goes

All the dangerous play equipment at King George V playing field in Newcastle Emlyn has now been removed.

"It was a very sad day," said playground press officer Sue Tabbitt.

"Many of the long-standing members of the plauing fields committee had overseen the equipment being installed during the last 30 years," she said.

"It's a sign of the commitment of the town to he need for decent outdoor play facilities that the committee has grandparents and fathers on its team as well as many local mums who hvae joined over the last two years."

Now the committee has its fingers crossed that it will come top of the poll in an on-line voting competition run by tyre giant Goodyear.

Votes can be cast on www..mygoodyear.co.uk. The winner receives £10,000 for a park makeover.

The playing fields committee is holding a special fun day on Saturday, May 31 from 10am to 4pm including bouncy castle, auction of promises and a chance for local children to work with park designers to create their ideal playground.
