A six-seater folding table was borrowed from the Village Hall recently for the Luncheon Club. Whoever borrowed it has forgotten to return it. Please do so as soon as possible.

Memorial Hall

The Hall Management Committee has now secured grants from various sources totalling £47,000, to finance the replacement of the existing hall floor. There are grants from the Community Facilities and Activities Programme (£40,600); the Welsh Church Act Fund (£3,000); and the Oakdale Trust (£500).

"The first St Dogmaels Local Producers' Market - Marchnad Cynhyrchwyr Lleol Llandudoch will be held on Tuesday, 21st July in the Coach House area from 9.00 am - 2.00 pm. It is hoped to hold it on an weekly basis for the rest of the Summer. The food on sale will be locally produced, homemade or homegrown."

Unveiling of trail marker

The unveiling of the new Pembrokeshire Coast National Trail Marker at the Slipway ,Glanteifion, St Dogmaels, will be unveiled at 2.30 pm on Monday, 29th June, by Cllr Anne Hughes ,. Chairman Pembrokeshire County Council, and Richard Hook, Chairman Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park Authority.

The group has already organised three successful talks and more are scheduled, ie Wednesday, 18 March at 7.30 ˆ Rosie Davies re. Gerald of Wales; Wednesday, 8 April at 7.30 ˆ The Revd. Towyn Jones re. Myths & Legends of West Wales. In addition, there will be field trips to sites of historical interest in the area.

Approximately 50 members met at the Grosvenor Hotel for a Cawl lunch this month where everyone enjoyed a very tasty meal comprising cawl, roll, cheese, and a choice of apple tart and custard or fresh fruit salad. Thank you Jean (Walters) for organising the occasion. Next Month: Father Paul McNess will be talking about the fascinating and always captivating mystery writer Agatha Christie.

The Chair of the Community Council, Cynghorydd Melrose Thomas welcomed Karin Morgan, Coastal Access Officer for Pembrokeshire County Council to the meeting. Karin updated the Community Council on the Coastal Path project for Wales and discussed issues in the St. Dogmaels area.

Benefit concert for Zimbabwe

‘A race night with a difference’ is how St Thomas Church St Dogmaels have described their Pig Racing Evening to be held at the Memorial Hall St Dogmaels on Saturday 31st January at 7pm. Bets will be placed and jockeys will prepare for this, the first race of its kind in the area. Top professional race hosts are being brought in for the night for what promises to be a real talking point for months to come.

The Evergreen Club cancelled the planned trip to Llanelli, the Christmas shopping and the evening meal in Carmarthen so that we could all honour the late Mrs Sophie Herbert by celebrating her life and membership with a special tea. Alan Herbert gave a very moving vote of thanks and Canon Davies recalled her many acts of kindness.
