The New Quay and District Hall was the venue when the New Quay and District country market celebrated their 25 years.

Many congratulatory cards were received, a letter from Roberta Male who had the inspiration to open the market as a W.I. market. The market was then moved to the main hall and is now open for 11 months, January being our holiday month, we have also been chopping and changing our opening times and the hours we have now seen to suit both producers and customers 11-12-30 on a Friday.

The anniversary cake made by Carys Williams (the youngest producer 25 years ago) was cut by Eluned Davies first chairman. She recalled the early days and how the market has moved on since, she was glad to see so many of the original committee present.

Mair Davies chairman of County management and Phyllis Eldrige market advisor also expressed their best wishes.

An enjoyable ploughman’s lunch was served to almost a 100 people as a token of appreciation for the support given tot he market and long may it continue.

We are now looking forward to a busy season, already the fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables are appearing on the stalls.
