Welsh language learners in Aberaeron and the surrounding area are being invited to help launch a new interactive service enabling learners at all levels, whether complete beginners or fluent speakers, to enjoy S4C’s most popular programmes.

The new service – accessed by pressing the ‘dysgwyr’ or ‘learners’ button on www.s4c.co.uk www.s4c.co.uk - will focus on major S4C series, beginning with Sunday night drama Teulu, quiz show, Cwis Meddiant and Y Dref Gymreig, which looks at the buildings of some of our favourite towns.

The first episode of the new series of Teulu, which is filmed on location in Aberaeron, will be shown at the Feathers Royal Hotel in Aberaeron on 15 January at 7.30pm. Following the screening, there’ll be an opportunity to find out more about the new learners’ service as well as meet two of the stars of Teulu, Catrin Morgan and Rhys ap Hywel.

The service features introductions to S4C programmes and personalities, as well as background information on Welsh culture and traditions. There are activities for learners at four different levels: Just Starting, Mynediad/Entry, Sylfaen/Foundation and Canolradd/Intermediate. There is also a choice of north or south Wales language patterns.

Rhian Gibson, S4C’s Director of Commissioning, said: "We’re delighted to provide this comprehensive resource, which forms part of our commitment to making S4C accessible to all viewers, in particular learners, who are an all-important element of the audience."

Entry to the Aberaeron Teulu screening is free of charge. To book a place, please telephone Cwmni Acen on 02920 300800 or email jenny.allan@acen.co.uk
