The Marqeeon The Parrog: Sat 2nd to Monday 4th May, 10pm to 4.30pm This year the Newport Bay Spring Festival will be bringing together over a dozen local authors who will be signing their work in the marquee on the Parrog from Saturday 2nd May to Monday 4th May.

Writers who will be visiting the marquee during the festival include:- Angela V. John biographer and historian and honorary professor of history at Aberystwyth University. Her latest biography "Evelyn Sharp, Rebel Woman, 1869 - 1955" was published in April.

Mike Hughes. A former trader in stocks and bonds who moved to Pembrokeshire in 1988 to run a marine business and holiday lets. His latest novel "The Zapper" was launched in April.

Brian John author of around seventy books including a wide range of non-fiction titles, many on local subjects. His series of novels, "The Angel Mountain Saga" was completed in 2007 and has a Newport setting. His latest title is "The Bluestone Enigma" which examines the myth that Neolithic tribsemen transported bluestones from Wales to Stonehenge.

Clare Cooper has written over twenty children’s books including "Cat of Morfra" and it’s sequels "Stonehead" and "One Day on Morfa". Both this trilogy, and her Simon Jones Trilogy have a Newport setting.

Deidre Edwards, actress, playwright and children’s writer . Her latest work, "Willowby’s World", is a story book for 9 - 12 year olds exploring earth consciousness. She lives in a straw bale round house in Newport.

Liz Whittaker has been writing and telling stories for children for many years and has led a number of junior youth theatres. Her Dreamstealer Trilogy, "The Fizzing Stone", "Shapeshifters at Cilgerran" and "Manawl’s Treasure" have a local setting.

Robert Nisbet is a short story writer, poet and creative writing tutor working mainly for Trinity College Carmarthen and the WEA. Robert is also press officer for Haverfordwest Football Club.

Peter George poet and novelist whose works include "Antiphony of a Grief Rewarded" a libretto/poem for a choral work in memory of Suzy Lamplugh with music by Seimon Morris and his debut novel "Undreamed Shores" which was published in 2007. He will be launching a further collection of poems this summer.

Stuart Warner Stuart’s recent work, "Into the Still Point" is a collection of paintings, poems and music inspired by the hills and coastline of Pembrokeshire and combines 7 painting cards by artist Jo Kimpton with a Cd of Stuart’s poems set to music composed and performed by William Goodchild and Nick Pullin with sung vocals from Chloe Goodchild.

Glen Peters whose novel "Mrs Silva’s Detective Instincts and the Shiatan of Calcutta" will be launched in June.

The event is co-ordinated by Vivien Boyes, who has written for the BBC and for a variety of magazines and whose children’s novel "The Druid’s Head" has a Newport setting.
