Brynberian Community Centre is an example of a rural and close knit community responding to the wishes of the people around it. Instead of only listening to concerns about the erosion of the Welsh language, or complaints that non-Welsh speakers are left on the margins, action is being taken. From 21st January there is a chance to learn simple vocabulary between 2 and 4 pm in the Centre. Anyone interested should contact Sandra Llewellyn on 01239 891654.
The approach is imaginative and informal: "a chance to play fun games like Bingo to learn words and numbers."
Nothing much is ever learned when you are stressed and anxious; much is learned in an informal and fun atmosphere. Anyone attending, Welsh speakers or not, may be surprised at how much Welsh they learn and how quickly.
"Learn as you do is a good approach and let the grammar and words take care of themselves." The arrangements are being made under the guidance of menter iaith: Sir Benfro.
