THIS Friday, the Maes Llewellyn Care Home in Newcastle Emlyn will celebrate its 40th birthday. With 40 residents and up to 40 staff, a tea party has been organised to mark this memorable occasion.

The official celebration will commence with Mr Wilfred Davies, a resident at Maes Llewellyn and former Carmarthenshire County Councillor, officially opening the tea party for residents, families and invited guests.

Senior support worker Helen Ghazal said: "It’s a low key event and we’ve decided to raise money on the same day for Cancer Research, so the staff and residents will all have the choice of wearing pink."

She concluded: "We are looking forward to it and hope that Maes Llewellyn will be here for another 40 years and that it will still be going strong. People are always complementing the place, its staff, and the care given over the years."
